Since I'm mostly playing bass these days, it's come time (reluctantly) to part ways with my beautiful spalt-top tele. She's taken a back seat to my Spectors, so off she goes.

She originally came out of Bud Veazy's shop down south as 12 string. I found that I didn't play her nearly enough, so I set out to convert her back into a comparably worthy six-stringer. I stumbled upon an amazing luthier in Ohio named Attila. It's rare to see a neck made of spalted maple since the wood gets all kinds of punky due to the inherent fungus (ie spalt). Anyways, I told him what I wanted and he spec'd/built a thing of wonder and eventually assembled everything back up for me.

Here are the specs:

Back:Mahogany (dark red stained)
Top: Spalted maple
Neck: Spalted maple
Radius: 9.5"
Nut: TUSQ XL (black)
Frets: 6150
Profile: Std. Thin
Inlays: Abalone dots
Tuners: Grover Mini-locking Rotomatics
Pickups: GFS Retrotrons
Logo: Literally one of one, Damselfly Guitars, which I thought went well with the spalt/swampy theme). Logo was applied as a waterslide decal before the neck was sprayed to it's on there for good)

Includes a pretty-much new tweed case, and I will ship any where in the US on my dime.

Now asking $650. Or interesting comparable trades: Les Pauls, hardtail Strats or or Spector basses.

Here is a link to a bunch more high-res pictures.

Note that none of outside pictures were photoshopped or edited. That's was she looked out in the sun on my deck the afternoon. Please feel free to ask any/all questions.

Spalt-y goodness bump! I might also be interested in a fretless. PM me if you've got one.

Still-hanging-around--bump, if anyone is interested. I'm opening the trade potential to include Les Pauls or potentially a hard-tail strat.

Have a fretless 4-string Spector, Spectorcore -- mag and piezo p'ups -- in mint shape I'd offer in trade toward the Spaltcaster.

Thanks for the offer. I had a Spectorcore stay with me for a bit, and as much as I wanted it to be, it just wasn't my cup of tea. Thanks for the bump, though. Much appreciated!

After much hemming/hawing, she's back up for grabs. I'm trying to raise some funds so no trades at this point. $650/shipped in the continental US. (TB won't let me re-edit the initial post so the asking price is still the same; just not looking for any trades right now. Need cash!)

nice guitar!

Thanks! It took me awhile to source all of the parts for this one. Spalt looks great but a lot of the time it's punky thanks to the fungus that makes it so pretty to begin with. I was really happy to find a nice solid piece to make the neck out of. It's too nice an instrument to just sit there as a decoration on the stand.
