Only about 400 of this series were ever made,probably very few in a 6 string. You can read all about these on the MTD website. Bass is in great condition with just a few dings here and there. Bridge has some finish wear. I got this as a backup to my Killer B 6. I got it set up,new Elixir strings,and never played it at a gig. Comes with original tolex hardcase. Going back to Music Man 5 strings full time,so I'm letting this go to get another Sterling or Bongo 950.00 shipped to the lower 48 states only. Payment by cashiers check or USPO money order only. No Paypal. Would consider trades for a Stingray 5 HH or H.

Change of plan. Just did a trade with my Sterling 5 for a nice BFR SR5 HH,so for trades on the Tobias,an SR5 will do nicely. Prefer the HH,but I'll consider the H or HS versions too. Maple boards and matching headstocks are a plus. Willing to add cash for a nice one.

Yes. It wasn't built by Mike's shop, but it was a pre-Gibson in a way. The Standards are rare finds and this one is priced very well. I'd jump on it, but I don't play my six that much as it is.

I had a five string version. These are very nice basses. I wish I could snap this up. Below is a little history from MTD website about these basses. Good Luck with the sale.

FROM THE WEBSITE

Basses built during 1990-1992 era were built initially by the same crew that had helped establish Tobias Basses as one of the most sought after basses on the planet. We added several people during 1990 and ended up with a great 10-man shop.

Business was still very good and we were not able to make anywhere near enough basses to fill the orders. Instead of trying to jack up production, we tried to get outside vendors to build for us. We had 110 “Model T” basses made for us by a very fine builder in New England, and then we got the Terada factory in Nagoya, Japan to make the “Standard” bass for us. This was and is a great bass, but the $/yen ratio killed the project. There were about 400 Standards.

A little info for those that asked. Weight is about 10 lbs, 34" scale,rosewood board,17mm spacing, the preamp is a 3 way,but the mid control is in the control cavity. Controls are volume,balance,and stacked bass and treble.

Still available. Looking for an SR5 HH,or Bongo 5 HH. Maybe a later model Fender Deluxe Jazz 5.
