Up for sale is B027019, a black fretless StingRay with pau ferro board from 1988.
This is a very classy early Ernie Ball fretless StingRay with 3 band EQ preamp, velvet finished maple neck (that became glossy over time) with some nice birdseye figuring and pau ferro fretboard. It sports some of the most sought after features of pre EB Music Man instruments, such as a finished neck with skunk stripe, bullet truss rod, four bolt neck joint, old style bridge with original mutes, and chrome battery cover.
The bass is in excellent playing condition but does have a good deal of dents and scratches in the finish from its previous owners. There are no noticable nicks or scratches in the neck but the cloverleaf of the D string tuner is very slightly bent, impossible to capture in pictures.
This has obviously been a players bass. After I received it, I sent it to a luther for maintenance, get the fretboard leveled and professionally set up with Ernie Ball Group 3 flats. This fretless plays nicely with lots of "mwah" and character especially in the upper register, while delivering full round lows in the lower register. It weights about 4.4 kg (9.7lbs).
Comes with non original 80's hard shell case. Case has a couple of cracks and three of the four feet broke off, but is clean inside and all latches and hinges work perfectly. More pictures here
Asking price is EUR 1'300 plus shipping. Will ship worldwide.
For trades, I'm interested in the following basses (preferrably with a weight below 10lbs):
I also have other itmes for sale. If values of trade objects vary greatly, I'm willing to work out a deal with either free shipping, cash padding or even a 2 for 1 trade.
If you're interested, please send a PM.
