SOLD!
----------------------------------------------------------------

I've got a beautiful, awesome sounding, awesome playing 4 string Flashback with a 2TEK bridge that I'm reluctantly selling. They are becoming increasingly hard to find, especially with the original bridge. Selling because I have way too many basses that I love, yet never wind up playing, and I'm gassing for a Ric. The weight on this keeps it from most gigs. Don't know what that actually is, but it's frikken heavy. Over 10 lbs. If you need to ask the weight, you don't want it. Period. I don't own a scale. :)

That said... the bass has some normal wear, and few dings here and there. It has a small crack in the pickguard near the blend control that the guy I bought if from never even noticed. I'll post a pic. Doesn't effect anything, but I need to disclose that. I also need to put out that there something a tad funky with the electronics, but not funky enough for me to ever get checked out or fixed. I believe it may need a volume pot, which is a $20 fix from my undertanding, but anyhow this is what it does. When the tone is dimed, the volume works as it should except for the fact that at 0 some sound still leaks out. With the tone completely rolled off, the volume control gives nothing until around the 8 mark. Again, it was also sold to me like this and the original owner never even noticed there was anything odd, or at least made like he never did. He threw me $25 extra for a volume pot, but I never bothered as after playing it a while, didn't feel the fix was necessary. You can still get all the sounds the bass is capable of, just have to use the volume a bit differently if all the highs are rolled off. Something I never do anyhow.

The neck is perfect, great action, lots of snap - the bass is deep dark and gnarly sounding but can get some slap sounds that are like nobody's business. Warwick growl is all there, and the bass sits awesomely in the mix. Lots and lots of bottom, with top end that never gets sizzly and remains organic sounding. Pretty versatile too.

$800 + shipping, OBO.

It pairs up nicely with my Fortress One. :)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I'd also be interested in a barter/trade/sale kind of thing with anyone who refinishes guitars and would be interested in refinishing my fortress. Would be willing to negotiate a reasonable deal, understanding fully what it costs to refinish a guitar. I've been researching and considering doing this for a while now.

I shall "to the top" this a handful of times, and then allow it to be buried. Not in a hurry to sell right now, if you have any interest shoot me an offer. If gas kicks in badly for something else, I might get back to you on whatever that offer might be.

This is a great bass...something you don't see come up very often, especially with the Tek-2 bridge! The lipstick pickups are so unique...best of luck either way!

Bump for a great bass.
I owned a near mint red one of these not long ago and wish I had it back.
Just a great tone across the boards!
The 2 tek bridge resonates for days!

We'll see. :) Thanks for the bump. This starts to hurt like an opposite gas as I get closer to actually selling it. The bass really is sweet, and I know it's gonna sting badly as soon as it's out the door. Most basses I know I can and/or will replace if I ever want another bad enough, but I really believe these are becoming increasingly rare. I don't remember ever actually seeing another with the 2tek bridge for sale. Just a 5 string.

Cool looking bass indeed. Are Fortress made in Germany?

Richie

Richie - The Fortress line was made in Germany, and discontinued. There are a limited number of standard Fortress models available by special request, but not the Flashback. We do offer the Fortress in our Rockbass line. Please let me know if you've got any questions or if I can assist in any way. Thanks!

Joe Nerve - I hear ya, and was partially joking on Andy! Best of luck whatever you decide!

Got lots of offers. Need to rethink this as I'm starting to feel that this bass is worth a lot more to me than the $800 that it's worth on the market. Going to close this now for some rethinking on my part. Thanks to all thus far who have made offers, and I'm certain you all understand. :)

Hmmm... I thought it was within our power to close and reopen FS threads? I seem to have been mistaken. Would be happy if a mod could close this for me while I rethink it for a while. Thanks.
