SOLD!

This is painful, as I hate selling off perfectly good guitars. I hope someone who loves Rics will pick this up and give it the love and attention it deserves.

Built Week 25 of 2002, relatively rare Turquoise Rickenbacker 4003 all original in original hardshell case. First $1,600.00 (PayPal only) gets it shipped to your door in the CONUS. I'm not doing international shipping. Alaska, Hawaii, and other distant US soil, we need to talk about shipping. I'm firm on the price, and not interested in trades of any kind.

Currently has what I would call a medium-low set up on it (Rotosound roundwound Swingbass 66 set 45-105) a very easy player, but it could be quickly configured to your unique tastes and needs. If I were keeping it, I would use the proper files and ever-so-slightly deepen the nut slots, and I would turn both rods just slightly to take a little more relief out. I'm certain this bass would tolerate that typical Ric low action, and I'm really picky about that. It is rock solid.

The only flaws are cosmetic and very slight. There is the familiar paint bubble on the bass side of the bridge. It hasn't popped, and from more than 5 feet away it's pretty hard to see. There is a tiny depression not through the finish on top, you almost have to put your nose on it to see it, I couldn't get it to show up using the micro setting on my camera. I almost think it was a tiny depression in the wood before finishing, it's that slight. Anyway, that's about it for cosmetic issues, quite small and hardly spoils the beauty of this bass.

Functionally it's 100%. I did a quick set up when I bought it, everything works as it should. Awesome Ric sound. Currently has round wounds on it. Original bridge PU cover is included. Case has some surface scratches from being stored with other cases, nothing major, all hinges and latches work great. No other accesories or tools are included, just the bass, case, and chromed plastic bridge pickup cover.

I'm only selling because I have three Ric basses and a little credit card debt I need to eliminate. I was afraid to take this one out to gigs very often, it's so nice, so it's the one that goes. This is a great bass that any Ric enthusiast would be proud to own.

I think it's fair to say this neck profile, relative to most other Ric 4000 series neck profiles, is a bit on the chunky side. If you're okay with the average P Bass neck profile, this will be fine. If you're only comfortable with a thinner neck profile, you might want to think twice about this one. I routinely play a variety of neck profiles, and I never had a problem with this neck.

If you are new to Rics, I highly recommend you educate yourself on the unique set up procedure, have the right tools, or find someone who does. This is an amazing specimen, I hope it stays that way.

And now the jumbo hi-def pics, please be patient while they load.
