By thinner do you mean narrower at the nut? This one is 1.5" which is standard jazz bass nut width. The neck itself is not chunky in terms of the neck profile (depth and cut) and how it feels in your hand based. I have 2 PBasses and they are much thicker/fuller feeling than the neck on this one.

I bought a Mike Lull recently on TB and the quality of the build was fantastic. The sound was also. But the neck (front to back) was thicker than my other Jazz Basses.
I wound up selling it because of that. Too bad, 'cause it was a Fiesta Red / maple board beauty.

It was D-shaped and rounded like a Gibson and I prefer a really thin Jazz neck. Can you measure from the surface of the 1st fret to the back of the neck for thickness? You'll need a caliper to do it properly.

Thin, to me, would be 3/4" or thinner.

Just to chime in here, I have had a Mike Lull jazz and the neck was quite thin front to back, thinner than my Sadowskys, thinner than Fenders American Deluxe, but not too thin.

That's very interesting . . .
That would mean that all Mike Lull necks are not the same,
and that would be good news to me.

I guess the only way to tell would be an actual measuring
of the neck thickness at the first fret.

The thinnest necks I've seen are on the Ibanez SoundGear 500 series. But I'm a Jazz bass man and would LOVE to find one with a neck like that.

Like I said above, I'd grab it in a heartbeat.

Was it an early build? Mike's earliest basses had Warmoth necks that were like you describe, and he moved away from those early on. His more recent builds have thinner necks, more along the line of a Lakland JO. I have a Lull M4V with a serial number in the low 600's (older than this one) and it has among the most comfortable jazz necks I've played. If I didn't have one already I would buy this one.

Have this exactly spec'd bass and absolutely love it. I paid more for mine and it was well worth it. Amazing bass.

I believe it was a 2005. I bought it from Zander who bought it from scyzoryck. I loved the bass but the neck felt like a louisville slugger in my hand. The finish was the slickest ever, great frets, beautiful wood, just too thick & round. Here is the thread showing the bass:

I don't have a set of calipers to do an exact measurement. If someone has an alternative suggestion for measuring it much appreciated.

Necks that feel like a baseball bat are more U shaped with more depth and lots of wood on the sides. A recent example that I've played is the squier cv 50s pbass. I've also played late 60s/early 70s jazz basses with this profile.

I would not describe this neck as baseball bat like. To me it feels thin, but not too thin just as someone else here has described it.

This bass is an M4V and the one you had was a V4. Not sure if they have different neck profiles or not.

I have played a few Lull jazzes made 2008 and up and I would not describe any of them as having thick necks. I played one at NAMM that had an amazing neck, I almost bought that one.

That red fiesta was mine. Most comfortable neck I have played, period. I'm surprised it didn't work out for ya THORRR. I now have the most amazing sounding Atelier Z fiver but gassing for this M4V.

Yeah necks are a funny thing. This one is just about perfect for a jazz IMHO. It's a great bass but I need a 5er.

Necks are a lot like shoes when it comes to "the right fit".

Everybody's hands are different.
I applaud the quality of Mike Lull basses and wish that
the fiesta red one worked out for me - it was beautiful and
drew a lot of compliments.

The guy that bought it from me found it to be perfect for
him so it went to a good home.

A good closeup photo of the neck/nut/first three frets area
taken from the side is another way to do it. If the profile shot is clear we can make a visual comparison and see if it's thin enough.
