I have for sale a 1982 Fender Precision Special in candy apple red. Serial number E014260. This bass has an active circuit and a passive mode, controlled by a toggle switch. In active mode, the knobs are Volume/Bass/Treble. In passive mode the knobs are Volume/Tone/Unused.
For details, see http://www.riverband.demon.nl/special.html
I am the second owner and have personally owned this bass since 1991. All of the major scuffs occurred before I bought it. For the most part, it's all original with these exceptions:
Everything else is original. The headstock and tuners are in especially good shape. The body is where most of the wear is. Tried to show everything clearly in the photos. Neck and frets are in good shape. Original bridge, tuners, knobs, pots, and circuitry. Everything works. It's a nice playing bass.
Comes with OHSC and extra tortoise shell pickguard.
Asking $1100, shipping included to lower 48.

- White pickguard. It had an ugly gray one when I bought it.
- White pickup covers. Some black ones with it which I still have.
- Gold pickguard screws. Still have the original silver ones.
- Thumbrest. The original was missing when I bought it.
