Hey TB! Up for trade is my excellent G&L 1500.
For those who are not familiar with this bass, it has G&L's high output humbucker in the MM position. As such, it has quite a natural aggression to it, and cuts right through the mix if you allow it to (the 2 band eq allows for a lot of tone shaping, as do the series/parallel switch and passive/active).
To me, the eq and humbucker pairing make it sound a lot like a pre eb. Lots of growl and depth, but without that more modern MM 'clack' (although I admittedly like the clack). Change over to passive and it's like a solo 60s J bass pickup. Change from series to parallel and you go from loud and aggressive to round and subtle. The eq blends very, very nicely on any setup and allows for even greater tone shaping while maintaining the essential characteristics of each setting.
In addition, this bass features:
* a RIDICULOUSLY lightweight body. Seriously, this bass can't weigh more than 8 lbs... I can get a more exact weight if anyone wants
* a smooth ebony fingerboard
* the nicest, most digitally figured quartersawn neck I have ever seen. Just look at the headstock and you'll know what I mean. I'm a little bit of a snob about quartersawn necks...to deem a bass a keeper, it pretty much needs this quality. The neck on this bass is rock solid. It's a set and forget type neck, really.
* very comfy 1.6" nut, 34" neck.
I have the original paperwork, tags, certificate of authenticity, registration card, hardshell case with keys...everything.
On top of that, the bass is mint. I mean, I can't even find a swirl mark inspecting the body under light. It's like the thing is straight from the factory...but it's a 10 year old bass, meaning the wood has had a chance to settle, dry, and open up the tone a bit.
In terms of trades, I'm looking for anything else really...not too picky. Please, no cabinets unless they are Mesa walkabout 15's brand new. I would trade pretty much straight up for one of those. Pedals...only ones I am looking at are FEA Dual band optical compressor and Strymon Blue Sky. Those can be offered together (very unlikely, I know) or as partials along with something else cool.
Basswise...more of a 4 string player, love ebony and maple boards, not the biggest fan of bursts...none of those are deal breakers though and I'm open to trying basses of all sorts.
