This 2008 Upton Standard laminated bass was made in their Connecticut shop with upgraded violin corners and fingerboard extension. It has been lightly and occasionally played over the last five years and is in great condition. UB bag is included.

(Bass cradle courtesy of the Pier One Papasan chair collection was used for photo purposes only and is not included).

Price is 2150.00 with payment in cash if buying in person or bank issued check if payment is being sent.

I also have a nice Brazilwood French bow available (Lemur model AB160F) for an additional 150.00.

How is the setup? If the action is high, is there room on the bridge to dial it down for jazz playing?

The string length is 41.5 in.

The bass still has its original strings and setup from the Upton shop. The string heights are currently from 5-7 mm with the bridge fully lowered.

There is room above the heart on the bridge for the string slots to be cut deeper to achieve lower action, or to create some space allowance for the adjusters at the current string height.

Or sometimes, Upton will trim a slight bit off of the bottom of the bridge legs or the feet instead of cutting the string slots deeper.

The bass was made entirely by Upton in their shop. They started building their own UB Standard laminate design around 2007, I think.

There is no pickup with the bass. It never has had a pickup fitted to it, so the possibilities there are wide open.

I am in East/Central Mass., halfway between Boston and Worcester. Easily accessible by major highways.

Thanks for your interest. Feel free to follow up by PM if you like.

These are great instruments. I've played one of these since 2009. Mine was new and shipped to TN from Upton. These are Handcrafted in the USA, solid and dependable. I've played mine on 200+ gigs with no issues. Plus, if it ships from Upton I'm sure the dudes there would set it up/install a PU for a reasonable fee. I wouldn't hesitate if you need a solid ply. Good luck with the sale.

I have a prospective buyer coming to check out the bass, so I am placing it on a tentative hold.

I will post an update on the availability of the bass after his visit.
