I am selling my 1969 Jazz bass SN 226014. I have owned this bass since 1984 and believe I may be the 2nd owner.
There are some issues with this bass. First, many years ago I was prying off the pickup cover from the bridge pickup and some of the windings got damaged. It makes sound but will definitely need to be re wound. I have tried to show the damage in the pictures. Second issue is the neck. The action is playable by anybody’s definition, but not as low or as good as it could be. There is a bit of ski slope in the treble side of the neck but in the hands of a skilled tech, action (in my opinion) could be achieved to satisfy anybody’s expectation. I am speaking of perfection here. There is no reason anyone could not take this bass out tonight and gig with it without issue.
The neck is in excellent cosmetic condition. Headstock edges are crisp and there are only slight scrapes to the finish. There is a ding in the backside of the neck below where it joins the body.
All fastening screws are original except for the pick guard screws. The neck mounting screws may not be original but they are as I received them in’84. The G string bridge intonation screw and spring are not original.
Pots, electronics are original and date correctly.
There are many cracks in the clear coat but nothing reaches into the wood.
There are no other parts available for this bass, what you see is what I have and what you get. I don’t have a scale so not sure exactly what this weighs.
I will include a like new Gator case that fits the bass well. Price includes shipping to the CONUS. $3100.00
The photobucket pics are OK I guess. Let me know if you need to see specific areas better.
