I bought this Valenti VTP5 (#162) new from Bass Specialties in May, 2013. What impressed me immediately about this bass was its light weight and balance (no neck dive), its deep rib contour, the spoke-wheel truss rod adjustment, the impeccable fit and finish (super tight neck pocket), and how resonant it is. This bass is pretty loud acoustically, similar to the Sadowsky basses I have had. This bass is very Sadowsky-like (no surprise given Nino's background and approach), but since it is passive with the Nordstrand pickups and the Hipshot hardware it seems closer to a Nordy VP5. The neck is quite thin front to back.

I modified the electronics a bit. It came setup as Volume-Blend-Tone, with a 250K volume pot. I found it a little too warm for my liking (even with the ash/pau ferro combo), so I changed it to Volume-Volume-Tone with 500K CTS pots. This opened up the tone nicely to allow more high-end through. Note that all original pots come with the bass.

This Valenti is in excellent condition. I'm only selling it because I find myself more at home on a 4 string and there's a US Lakland Glaub I have my eye on. In the interest of full disclosure, there are two ant-sized dings in the front above the P-pickup - these are impressions that don't break the paint. There are also some light scratches by the output jack.

Nice, I have this bass's jazz bodied, blocked neck little sister and I love it. Mine is 6 serial numbers after this one. Nino makes one hell of a bass.

Cool. You're right! I really like the shape of the neck... Pretty thin from front to back. It's very stable also. I rarely need to use that spoke-wheel adjustment...

Here are some sound clips I made with this Valenti bass to demo the Nordstrand PJ setup with 500k pots. These are just impromptu noodlings... hopefully you can hear when it's the P pickup and when I switch to the PJ setup. I also use a pick sometimes... When I have time I'll edit with notes...

There is alot of clipping in the sound clip. Maybe you should record another one to do that bass justice.

Yeah, good call ugly_bassplayer... I was trying to use my Cafe Walter as a pre but seems like I had the levels a bit too hot. I'll record some new ones as soon as I can.

I also have a Valenti VTP5, it plays and sounds awesome. But I'm the the same situation you are in, I play 4 string 99% of the time.

Forgot to mention that this Hipshot vintage bridge has .750" or 19mm string spacing. Quick release bridges are awesome!

Thanks everyone for the interest and good vibes. I've decided to keep the bass after all. Talking with Nino about a new 4-string vintage P build...
