***** SOLD TO A REALLY NICE GUY NAMED MIKE *****

I’ve been dreading this for quite a while, but it’s time to let my Roscoe LG 3005 pass along to a new owner. I have loved this bass, and for a period of time it was my #1 bass, but I’ve moved on from 5-string basses and, unfortunately, this fantastic instrument sits on my rack unplayed, which is totally unfair.

The bass is in excellent condition. There are two tiny dings in the usual spot at the top of the head. These should be clearly visible in the pictures. Beyond that, it’s perfect. There was a coil tap switch added that opens up an additional range of sounds from this already versatile bass. I really liked the single-coil sound and used that a lot. Besides the addition of that switch, it’s entirely stock.

The sale includes a Roscoe light weight case. The case shows some signs of use on the outside, but it’s in good working order with the zipper working great.

I bought this bass in 2010 and I am its second owner. The weight is 8.8 according to the bathroom scale. Nice, low setup, with the signature Roscoe articulate B string sound. Neck is fantastic. I am not looking for trades at this time. Asking $2,000, payment via PayPal, shipped and insured CONUS only.

Details on the construction materials and more pictures can be found below.

GLWTS!

To my less than professional eye it looks to me to have a Spanish cedar back, spalted maple top and wenge neck. Should make for an excellent combination of woods for killer tone.

Neuroman, thank you very much for the help with the pictures! As you can tell, I'm a bit of a novice with this posting to TalkBass stuff.

bpwb, thank you for the wood postulations. I can tell you that the bass sounds fantastic. I'll confirm the woods as soon as possible.

Hmmm . . . Not sure about that one for the neck. The neck looks like the maple, purple heart, maple SKB LG setup. And I always thought that Cedar had a tighter grain. Looks like Ash. But I am certainly no expert either. It is fun trying to pick it out anyway. It will be interesting to see what Kliengeld learns from Roscoe:D

Okay, thanks to the outstanding customer service at Roscoe (seriously, they're fantastic), here's the detail on this bass:

LG 3005 (now LG Custom 5)
Burl Myrtle top
Swamp Ash body
Natural Gloss finish
Bartolini pickups
Bartolini 3-band preamp
Maple/Purpleheart/Maple neck
Bolivian Rosewood fingerboard
Graphite nut
Black hardware
Case

The bass was originally custom ordered for a customer of Bass Northwest, and was completed in July of 2003.

I just discovered I have 2 unopened packs of D'Addario XL 170-5 strings I'll also include in the sale. That's $50 worth of strings free of charge.

I'll also point out that I live in Philly and work in Princeton, NJ, and if we can arrange for an in-person exchange I'll happily lop the shipping cost off the price.

It's a beauty for sure. A question—the pickups don't seem to be centered under the strings. Does this change the sound? I assume this was an earlier Roscoe placement and that there was a reason for that. What's the story?

Is the bridge on this model adjustable? I prefer 19mm spacing and would like to know if it can go just a hair wider then the standard 18.3, thanks.

It is a Hipshot A bridge so you can adjust the E and G strings farther out to widen the spacing just need to make sure you don't push the strings too far to the edge or they could possible slip off the neck.

That's just the standard setup for that era of the LGs. Nothing different done to the bass.
