So do these fit conventional headstocks? Did you cut them? Are they more on the stiff side or lighter tension.

Yes, I cut off a little bit of the strings (particularly the E and A strings), which were for a standard 34" scale length bass (a Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass), which has the standard Fender headstock. My recollection is these were on the stiff side. My groundwounds are lighter tension, which is one reason why I prefer those.
