Hi- I have a 1990 Warwick Thumb bass, 4 string, fretless, neck through (not a bolt on). I have never seen one for sale anywhere so I am not sure of it's value. I have found every combination of styles but this one. I have it up for sale (at the ususal place) because I didn't know for sure how to price it... but I'd much rather sell it directly. If you are interested and can help me out with evidence of similar sales, we could come to an agreement on price. Somewhere between 1500 and 2000. Thanks. I'll post pictures some pictures later today.

I'm not familiar enough with the older Warwicks and have only seen fretless Thumbs with unlined boards. Is this a factory fretless or a de-fret conversion?

Someone scared me with a very similar email earlier today… I researched it and have since changed my ebay auction. I did a Google search for 1990 fretless Warwick bass and found plenty of basses in both forms (that is, with the fret markers and without). The fret markers are inlaid wood and the fretboard is smooth. It seems that Warwick offered it both ways.

This is an old bass which does not have some of Warwick's trademark features (rear patented electronic cover, adjusting nut, patented rod cover, etc.). I own few of their fretless basses and all of them use ebony fingerboard with no wooden inserts. This must be some early prototype or modified sample. I am interesting in buying this bass, but I believe your asking price is well of the mark. I believe , based on my previous experience and purchases of Warwick bases, as well as on this particular bass condition, that the more realistic prize is around $1,000 mark. I am living in Bethesda MD (Washington DC). If you want to consider my proposed price we can arrange to meet. I also have a few excellent fretted (acoustical or solid) basses to offer as a part of a deal.

That is interesting info. However the bass is sold. Your price estimate was good. It sold for $1100.

Just for the record, it was not a prototype. All of those features have been found on other Warwicks of that time period. I had a 1988 thumb that had the same exact backplate and battery compartment on it and have seen other Warwicks with lined fretboards. 1100 is an extremely good deal for that bass. Similar ones have gone for anywhere from 1500 to 2000. Mine sold for 2400. Happy you sold it though :-)

Absolutely. These are fantastic FL bases. I have an unlined '90 with factory EMGs and "West Germany" on the Tuners; which give it a nice historic reference. Again, wonderful Basses...and IMO, an absolute steal at $1100. Some lucky buyer is going to be very happy with his purchase.

REALLY??? You must be very lucky to find all these neck thru Warwick at $1000, I imagine you can also find bolt on version at $600?
