Beautiful 2005 DJ5 with upgrades and here they are. - John East DJ Retro preamp, US Batolini soapbar neck pickup and US Bartolini MM bridge pickup, over $550 in upgrades.
The bass weights 9lbs even and the neck is straight with no wear. Action is low and plays incredible. The tone on this 5er is a monster with the combination of Bart and John East electronics. IMHO this preamp/pickup combo is one of the best sounding and versatile combinations I have ever used.
Overall the bass is in great shape with regular players wear but nothing bad to speak of. It has 2 small finish chips on the headstock which have been touched up. The pre gives you so many options that the tones are limitless. The autograph on the back of the headstock is bassist Kyle Brock from the Eric Johnson band. Has new GHS Boomers, original control plate w/pots. I also have a new, light gauge set of Rotosounds for it, if you want to play really fast. Includes hard shell case.
This is a great bass and is priced to sell. No trades, please.

This bass will blow away any stock Lakland 5 in its class and its in the same price range even with the upgrades. This bass is the total package playability and tone wise.I know it used to be mine.US Barts and John East Retro preamp,a deadly combination.

It would still be at my house if I didn't have so many. You better get this before he changes his mind.I regretted it when I dropped it off to UPS.

If this thing doesn't sell in the next couple of days I have sold a few things and I'm going to buy it back.Compare the stock Laklands prices to this one with big time upgrades.A no brainer.Read the ad carefully, theres alot of money put in this one.US Barts and J East pre not the Korean stock elecs.

To my ears it sounds great, but, it's really the John East preamp that blows me away. I have Barts on another bass with a Bart preamp and there is no comparison. I prefer passive pickups, generally, but this East preamp is special. IMHO. It feels like I can dial in the sound of just about any bass. The amount of tonal control is crazy.
I'm really a professional upright player, so you might want to also ask "bassman28" about the preamp. He has more experience and knowledge about it.
