I have what I believe to be a mint Kawai bass or very close. I am a 5 string player and can't get used to a 4 for even one song - this bass deserves to be played IMO. I am asking $600 (neg) without a case. Buyer will have to pay for shipping (I am in Canada).


Update: The bass has sold along along with my Jon Hill Huntington Standard as a package deal for $750. I had an issue with the truss rod in the Jon Hill.

I had GAS for one of these basses for a few years. Once I finally got one, I put new strings on it, set it up and was impressed with how well it played and the tone options (not to mention how cool it looks). I was able to relieve my GAS lol! I wish they made one in a 5 string version.
I have been playing 5 string since 87' after my friends brother suggested I try a 5 string - I never looked back (I ordered a Yamaha BB5000 - nice bass, wish I kept it). I was hoping to use the Kawai for a couple songs but I guess I am just too "picky" and it just does not "feel" right (my main bass is a Cirrus 5). I have purchased many basses since I got my Cirrus several years ago - I keep going back to my Cirrus!

The action and feel are good. I can measure the string distance. It is all original except for some foam I placed under the pickups. There are 2 long screws and 2 short screws for each pickup at opposite corners. I have never seen this type of configuration before and added foam as well. I lowered the short screws as far as they would go and all original hardware is in place.
