EDIT: now $625
EDIT: Will trade for a Peavey Axcelerator 5 - preferably not silver (have one) or black (don't really like) in good condition with a good hard case. Will give you very good value for your trade relative to Axcelerator sales prices.

Peavey Cirrus 5 string, made in the USA, bolt on version from 2006 I’m told by Peavey. If you’re in the market for an excellent active bass with a wonderfully slim neck, this is it. As far as I can tell these bolt on versions are not common, and play and sound just like their more expensive neck-through brethren. I used to own a flame maple over alder, neck-through Cirrus, and they played identically. I play through a GK 700RB-II and either a GK 2x10 or an Avatar 2x10, and this bass sounds wonderful through them both. I really do love this bass. The only reason I’m selling is that I’m wanting to try some other things and can’t afford to keep this and get more too.

Mahogany body

35" Scale Walnut Neck with Pao Ferro fretboard (I believe)

Both body and neck are matte finished which makes for a very quick neck to me.

Gold/Brass hardware

VFL Pickups

Millennium type 18V preamp (sweepable mids)

Hipshot Licensed partially open back tuners

Comes with Peavey Hard case – this is actually a Millennium case, but the Cirrus fits just fine – very snug.

Has gold Dunlop straplocks to match the other hardware – I don’t have the originals.

Currrently has Chromes installed – also comes with a set of DR Dragonskins, which I installed and then took off pretty quickly as they were just too trebly for me.

This bass is in very good condition with the exception of some slapper’s-rash near the neck joint under the G string. Depending on the light it is not that noticeable, but it IS there.

Other minor issues – there’s marking on the edge of the body on either side of the strap pin – some small dings (pencil eraser size or definitely smaller) and scratches. On the neck, around the 5th to 12th frets I believe, you can feel the grain of the neck wood. Personally this doesn’t bother me, but again – full disclosure. There is a rough patch in the wood (finish doesn’t seem damaged… just grain??) towards the back side of the edge where the bass rests on your leg when you play sitting. The back in the “belt buckle rash” zone feels a bit rough (again… grain??) but I don’t see any real belt buckle rash… once again, I’d rather you know about this from the beginning.

The truss rod cover is missing and has been since I bought it. I did check with Peavey over a year ago, and they could get a replacement for about $18 as I recall. I just never followed up on it.

You’ll likely want to get it set up once you receive it – I tend to like my action on the high side and I’m also not very good at doing setups… so it can probably benefit from someone who knows what they’re doing.

I don’t have any issues wearing it for a 4 hour gig (and I’m not that strong a guy). I’d consider it a nice medium weight.
EDIT: The newly acquired bathroom scale says it's 8.2 lbs.

Back from the dead bump.

The newly acquired bathroom scale says this bass weighs 8.2 lbs.

The only trade I will consider at this time is a Peavey Axcelerator 5 in good condition, preferably not in silver (have one) or black (not fond of the color here), with a good hard case. I will be generous in the trade value of your Axcelerator relative to what they're selling for on here.

Ye Olde digital calipers say 17mm at the bridge. Width of the neck is 45mm at the nut, a shade under 62mm at the 12th fret and 69.75mm at the 24th fret.

Now that is a very nice piece for a nice price. Good luck with the sale. Can't see how someone hasn't jumped on it yet.

I know you love Peaveys but would you be interested in a Lakland Skyline 55-60?

Thanks for the kind words Pachap.

hey Pushrod, thanks for the offer, but I think I'm stuck on the Axcelerator 5.
