Just got this off of here a month ago. It made me to go loco for aluminum. I just grabbed a Travis Bean and I don't think this will get any use any more. It is a thunderous instrument that deserves to be played. The vintagekramer website shows there's only one aluminum bass (a duke) noted with a higer serial #. This bass is the result of years of perfecting the aluminum models.

It is in near mint condition with only a few scratches on the back and bottom of the sides. I'll upload pictures of the scratches as soon as I get a chance, but they are extremely minor for this being a 30 year traveler.

This guy has ZERO neck dive which is usually a problem with these aluminum necks.

Scale : 34"
Neck: bolt-on aluminum
Fingerboard : ebonal
Nut width : 1.5"
21st fret width : 1.75"
Truss rods : none, aluminum neck
Body material : hippie sandwich of woods
Body depth : 1.50
Finish : white paint
Pickups : 1P + 2J
Controls : volume, volume, tone. 1 switch for P/Both/J, 1 for front J/both/back J
Hardware : Gold

The P-bass pickup sounds like a freight train. The J pickups sound almost like an EBMM. When all pickups are blended together, they become slightly out of phase. Controls are a tone knob and two volume knobs. One switch controls neck / both / bridge pickup selection, the other selects between the neck / both / bridge jazz pickups. I was surprised by how versatile this bass is.

These pictures make the scratches look much worse then they really are.

A few bites so far, to the top! Someone had requested some punchy slap tones, so I made a quick sound clip with a few seconds of solo'd neck pup around 1:00 and a bunch of noodling. (disclaimer: I haven't slapped in quite a while). Recorded straight into my sound card without any processing
