Late '80s and early '90s are generally the most sought after, and anything from then until about 1998/1999 are second tier. Third tier is '99 to about '02. Then for a few years they were having trouble acquiring wenge and had to modify their wood types accordingly. Still a great price for a great bass.
yeah id have to agree, after 02 there were some years that you could tell they weren't as nice of woods used for production. Seems in more recent years maybe 2010-2011 started getting a lot better and back to their roots. The woods look better again and they've started doing minor things to make the basses that much better. my 2012 thumb is just as nice as my 97 and has a lot of similarities and a few improvements.

I've had lots of people asking if the $2100 price included shipping and fees.

I did not intend it to, but I was new on the site and didn't know that was the way that most ads were posted.

So I have edited the listing to $2200 so that the price does include shipping and fees. Sorry for any initial confusion!

Also I have decided that I will entertain offers, including trade offers. I could really be interested in a trade for a 5 sting Fanned Fret Dingwall.

But run other possibilities by me. The only gotcha is that I don't want to put out any money out of my pocket to ship, so the trades probably either need to be face to face or an uneven trade where I end up with money.

Thanks

Phillip

Wow, you'd think they could hit the hammer a little harder to emboss those numbers! I about went blind trying to see them, but the last 2 numbers appear to be 05.

Someone sent me a site where you enter your serial number and it gives you info about your bass - very cool!

Any interest in an Elrick Single Cut 5? (Listed on this site) I'd be taking a bath on it but I really miss my old Thumb 5. Does it have a H/S case?
