Here it is, a bee-yoo-tee-ful Jetglo Ric 4003. I purchased this bass new in August of 2012 and it has (sadly!) never left my home. The bass has been professionally set up and is wearing the original Ric 45-55-75-105 nickel-plated steel round wound strings. It plays perfectly; with low, even action across the fretboard, no truss rod issues, and almost zero fret wear. Nut width is 1 11/16", which translates to 1.69", so it's slightly wider than a modern 1.65" P-Bass neck, but noticeably narrower than a 1.75" "baseball bat" P. Rickenbacker says that the 4003 has a 10" neck radius; and this one has a very comfortable rounded profile. If you like P-Bass or Stingray necks, it'll fit you just fine.
The bass is fitted with a treble bezel (cove model) from Tube Ampology, which was installed by a luthier here in Nashville at the time of purchase. The only cosmetic defect that I can find on the bass is a tiny (smaller than a grain of rice) dent in the finish, near the top of the back side, along the rear edge of the "tummy cut." Other than that, this bass is in like-new condition.
So, why am I selling such a wonderful instrument? The truth is, it turns out that I like the idea of owning a Ric more than I actually like playing one!
Some of my favorite professional bass players have used Rics, and many of the best musicians that I've gigged with (as a drummer) were Ric players. I love the sound, I love the look, I love the character; and this is hands-down the nicest instrument I own...but I just never seem to pick up the Ric if my P/J or T-40 are within reach. So, off she goes...
