Love. This. Bass. This one was an impulse buy that I just can't keep. The sound on this bass is massive. I've heard the T-45 sound described as a "P-Bass on steroids" and that's just about spot-on. Rich, round tone, with plenty of bottom end, plus some extra cut when in single-coil mode. I very seriously considered keeping this one, and selling my Stingray Classic instead. The T-45 uses the same pickup as the Peavey T-40, but it's positioned closer to the traditional P-Bass "sweet spot" than either of the pups on the T-40 (which uses a bridge and neck arrangement).

The bass is in great condition for a 32 year-old instrument. It's got the usual scratches and swirls, with some small marks on the body and headstock, but nothing serious. The most noticeable flaws are a very small light red spot next to the middle control knob and some dings on the bottom, near the output jack. The original factory plastic is still on the rear control cavity cover. As you can tell from the photos, though, from a couple of feet away, it looks gorgeous.

The bass has been professionally set up and strung with fresh D'Addario XL nickel round wounds (45-100). All of the controls work as they should. The neck is smooth and comfortable, with no issues. It has a P-ish feel, similar to a T-40. According to my luggage scale, the bass weighs just under ten pounds, which feels about right to me.

The knob closest to the neck is volume and the one closest to the bridge is tone. The middle knob is a variation on the T-40's tone/coil tap circuit. Rolling back the middle knob switches the pickup from single coil to humbucker. As you continue to turn it "down" it becomes a bass roll-off. Rolling off all of the bass yields a pretty thin sound, but taking off just a little helps to rein in the humbucker's monstrous bottom end.

I don't have the original Peavey case. The bass came with a slightly ratty gig bag, which I will throw in for free. However, the bass will be very well packaged, if shipped.
