This will make a great sounding bass. The Blacktop sounds almost like a '70s Jazz bass on steroids and kind of like a Rickenbacker. It has been gently and carefully wet sanded with high grit to a satin black finish which feels great. The standard Fender bridge was installed for better punch and attack at the cost of what I felt was unimportant sustain. It is wired completely stock, but with a Switchcraft jack and silver plate Teflon jacket wire. Has stock pickups and 500k pots with an .05 cap. I've replaced the pickup screws with stainless steel ones from Warmoth. The bass weighed just over 9 pounds when all put together.
I do recommend and will install at your request, an .022 uF capacitor which, when fully cut, imparts a gurgly growl that cuts through the mix, even with less string noise.
I also have a blend pot, passive fuzz pull switch tone pot, and a 1 meg volume pot that I will install for an extra $30. They rule.
I get compliments on it all of the time. Pictures do it no justice.
