The fingerboard wood is chemically treated quatersawn flame maple. Chris B tols me this makes the surface rockhard and will never wear, hold dirt or indent from the strings.

Sure wish you were open to trades on this,.....have a beautiful Benavente dcd I'd offer if you were. Best of luck on the sale and a free bump for a gorgeous bass.

Un-freaking-believably beautiful bass! I had the fretted prototype singlecut 5-string Benavente that evolved into this very model, and it is one of the few basses that I wish I had never let get away!!!

She is a beauty. A few questions:

1. Weight?
2. With the 3-band, I assume this is an active bass. If so, do you know what brand system is used? Is there a passive option?
3. Are you the original owner?
4. Can you provide the ownership history, including year of the build?

Thanks!

1. The weight is about 9 pounds. I will have it measured exactly if you're really interested.
2. Benavente pre amp. It does not have a passive option but, when the EQ's are flat it is very close to passive. You could have this installed but, it really is not necessary.
3. I am the second owner and purchased it from The Low-End bass shop. In absolutely brand-new condition.
4. Chris B. can probably do this.

For what it is worth, I believe this model is ~2009 or so. It is based on a bass I ordered (the original of the deep cutaway body style) which was for the 2008 NAMM show. This one was built not terribly long after I think. It is a really great setup, and I am sure it is as fantastic as the ones he built for me!

There IS passive on it if it is the normal setup- the lower-most knob can be pulled up for passive.

Good luck with the sale- I would have purchased this one myself when it originally came up for sale if the spacing was narrower!

Thanks, the lower tone knob does not pull up. However, I'm certain it could be modified easily add this feature. The sound is extremely sublime when the Eq's are left flat. IMO there's no need for a passive setting.

Yes, it is fantastic and if I principally played bass it would not be for sale.

For fun, would you mind sending a PM of pics of yours?

do you have sound files sound samples or videos of the tones with just the bridge pup , then both pups, and then the neck pup?
