For Sale: MTD 635-24
Putting up for sale my prized MTD 635-24 (s/n 2414.) I custom ordered this bass directly from Mike Tobias-it was delivered in September 2013. Mike used woods left over from an Andrew Gouche build for this bass. It's wood combination (Alder body/Burled Maple top/Maple neck/Bubinga fingerboard) offers a naturally even tone presentation-warm mids, a slight bloom in the bass, and sweet top end. The Bubinga fingerboard is similar to Pau Ferro to my ears, adding a bit of sparkle to finger style playing and presence to slapping. It weighs approximately 9lbs-the lightest six string bass I've owned.
This bass is an all around great instrument that I just don't play enough. It's in near flawless condition, frets are in very good shape, the only sign the bass has been played is the Bubinga fingerboard has darkened slightly. The bass will ship in an MTD hardshell case.
