Controls are amazingly versatile:
Pickup Blend (neck/bridge)
Volume
Mid (Push/Pull Hi - Low Freq)
Stacked Bass & Treble
Switch is three way for the bridge pickups (front, both, back).
There is also a gain trim pot accessible outside of the electronics cover.

Wondering about the spacing of the pickups - namely are the outer pickups aligned with 60's spacing? 70's spacing? Neither?

Neither (IMO). I came to the conclusion that BOTH the neck and outside bridge PUPs are closer to the bridge than any of the Fender Jazz configurations. Since the neck PUP is closer to the bridge it kind of wrecks any attempts at comparing with Fender Jazz configurations.

Great question though.

I looked into this in detail in the beginning and got frustrated at the lack of straight forward information on this very simple concept. This is a 35" inch scale bass (not 34" like a traditional Fender Jazz). You can find information on distance from the bridge which is irrelevant to me since I don't have a Fender Bridge not to mention the different saddle lengths for intonation - so who knows what they were measuring from and how that applies here. You can find information on the spacing difference from the neck and bridge pickups (ROUGHLY 3.6" for 60's and 4.0" for 70's). You can find information on the spacing from the nut in a 34" scale (although you can find different answers for even this piece). I did not have the patience to sort through the crap and to do the math on what I couldn't understand why a simple chart for various scale lengths was not already thought of.

Here are the measurements I wrote down and you can have at it with trying to decipher how this fits with the over abundance of non-information out there.

Measurements of the pickups (center) from the nut:

Neck Pup - 29 3/4"
Bridge Front Pup - 32 9/16"
Bridge Back Pup - 33 3/16"

Measurements from Neck Pup:

Bridge Front - 2 13/16"
Bridge Back - 3 7/16" (about 3.4") - 60's space was 3.6" but this is still closer to the bridge than 70's Jazz under any measurement.

OVERALL CONCLUSION: - THIS PUP CONFIGURATION IS SET UP FOR "GROWL"!

So I call the toggle my "gnrowly switch."

Front bridge pup = Growly.
Back bridge pup = Gnarly.
Both bridge pups = Gnar-owly.

Yup. At least for a "bridge pup guy" like me it is. The neck pup does have surprising punch at that spot but I know I underutilize it vis a vis its capabilities.
