This wouldn't suprise me at all. I used to play at a venue in NYC that had this. One time, I forgot my preamp, so I had to plug my bassmax in direct with no buffer and set the amp flat. It sounded warm, loud, and wonderful. Wish I could find one in Sweden.

A friend has one of those, and I play through it when we play together. It works really well for DB.
