just purchased a 6 string version of this same instrument..it is the best sounding bass I've ever owned!!! would love to add this to my collection if I had extra cash. Just wondering, what is your favorite eq and pickup setting?

Pups in single coil ,equal blend on them, maybe boost the bass / treble just a bit ,depending on the room . These are wonderful basses, extremely versatile, outstanding playability.

Great looking bass.
Are there fret markers on the side of the neck?
Do you have the MM pickup configured on a three way switch to do single/dual/single, or serial/parallel?

Yes, there are markers on the side of the neck. It's a two way switch, one way its both pick ups as single coil, the other position kicks the rear pick up into dual coil mode, similar to a music man bass.
I've made no mods to the bass, if you go to the Sandberg link, you can get more info. Thanks for the interest.

I seem to be finding conflicting information on the California, does this have a passive mode?
