Kern IP-777 Bass Guitar Preamp -- $695

I've decided that it's finally time for me to sell my incredible Kern IP-777 preamp. I'm just not playing enough to keep as much equipment as I have, and this preamp is massive overkill for the wedding receptions and hotel ballroom stuff that I still occasionally play.

Many of you know about these wonderful-sounding pre's. For those of you who don't, you can find out more by searching TB or googling. My pre is in excellent condition. It has the wall-wart power supply, which Les assured me is better for reducing noise.

I sent this preamp back to the designer, Les Plopa, a year or so ago to address a noise issue. He gave the unit a complete bench-check, replaced the rectifier and installed hand-selected tubes and shields. It has sounded fabulous since I got it back. Everything works perfectly. The DI is low-noise, the LED's all function correctly, etc.

I love the way you can go from a "fatter than Alembic F-1X" tone to a "faster than Demeter VTBP-201s" tone with just a turn of the "Tonal Balance" control. The other controls are all voiced for maximum musicality. Really an amazing preamp! Here are some pictures (the chair is NOT included):

Hi Soupy75,

Thanks for asking! I don't think I'll come down on the price. I've seen a few of these sell at or near this amount over the years, and that's also what I bought this one for. Since then, I paid shipping to Illinois both ways to have Les Plopa bench-test it and update the electronics. It's an amazing sounding piece of gear which has become quite rare, and it's in excellent condition! If it doesn't sell, I'll take that as a "sign" that I should hang onto it.

Trades (+/- $) are possible, but my first choice is an outright sale.

Cordially,
Greg

Leo,

I just read your stolen gear alert. Very sad! I bought my IP-777 here on TB and checked back to see when I acquired it, which was January 2012. (So I'm relieved that I didn't unknowingly buy your stolen unit!)
I hope your stuff turns up and the thieves are caught! I suppose that's a little optimistic by now though ...

Cordially,
Greg

Thanks, that was a sad day....I'd been waiting 16 years to buy a Kern at that point, and I used it on ONE gig. I'm glad to catch this one, and I'm going to keep a good eye on it!! I think my stuff is still around here in Dayton, in somebody's basement, or who knows where...

Payment sent. Thanks for waiting.
