holy wow! Why?? You gonna order a Series II??

Man if I had seen this before I dropped $10.5K on mine, I'd have saved a ton and gotten almost the same quality!

Good price

Thanks, SamJ!

No, there's no series II in my foreseeable future; it's a simple matter of wanting to pay off some debts. She's a beautiful instrument, and I hesitate to let her go, but...

Thanks, again! ...and that's a beautiful MK4 you have!

I have never GASed this hard for something that wasn't a Fender or a Wal. Wish I had the coin. This bass is gorgeous. If this had a PJ setup I would be trying to sell one of my kidneys on the black market right now lol

lol - Thanks, Chris!

It's interesting that you mention Fender. When I ordered this bass, I thought of it as the ultimate, super, mega, hyper Jazz Bass.

I still think she is... :bassist:

if it's not too vulgar to ask.. what does one of those "Spa" treatments set you back?

Actually, I have no idea. It was a closely held secret between Mica and my wife. (I was assured, however, that it was much less than buying a new one. ;))

The folks at Alembic did (of course) impeccable work, took care of all my questions and and everything I was concerned about, and even threw in some goodies! As you well-know, SamJ, they are a great company.

have been on nationally released albums, charting on the Billboard 200
Hope the wife doesn't find out you're selling this piece of beautiful american craftsmanship...

gotta be hard to move a bass at that price, even if it's deal... hang in there man, it will find it's new home. You got it posted on Alembic club to I take it?

Yep, I knew it would take some time, but that's OK... I might win the lottery in the meantime, and get to keep her!

No, I haven't mentioned the sale over there (yet); something in me doesn't want to hoist this flag too high (yet)...

I have just been informed, "It was a bit more than that". :help:
My buddy who used to work there told me when I bought my Series 1 that to upgrade the electronics it was around $1200, maybe if I sent it thru his store it would be that price. Haven't had to do it yet .

That's a good price, but this bass didn't get an electronics upgrade; this was a head-to-toe "spa treatment".

How long ago did your friend mention that price for the upgrade?

What ever happened to this Elan Bass? Really nice!

Absolutely pristine custom Alembic Élan; here are the specs:
• Élan body shape
• Stanley Clarke signature electronics
• Maple body core
• Walnut and quilted maple top
• Gold hardware
• Maple and purple-heart 5 piece neck
• Dual truss rods
• Brass nut
• 1.75" (P-bass) width at nut
• Macassar Ebony 12" radius fingerboard
• Oval Mother-of-Pearl inlays
• Side LEDs (red)
• First-fret marker
• 26 frets
• Side-mount jack
• Brass sustain block
• Schaller strap-locks

...and there's more...
Last year, my wife made arrangements with Mica (up at the Alembic Mother Ship) for what was called the "spa treatment". Here's what they did:
• Full re-finish
• New veneers on the headstock
• New truss rods
• New LEDs
• Full re-fret
• Polish all hardware
• New brass plates
• New "hat" knobs
• New hard-shell case

These are pictures that Mica took just before it was shipped back to me:

She comes in at ~10lbs (on the bathroom scale).

(In the pictures, there is a hip-shop D-tuner installed. I have installed the four new tuning machines which Alembic sent me. The buyer will have the new tuning machines, as well as the four old ones, and the Hipshot.)

This bass is effectively brand new. It has not been gigged (or even taken out of the house) since the "spa treatment". There are absolutely no blemishes, dings, chips, or marks of any kind - it is pristine, and in perfect working order. It is one-of-a-kind.

If Alembic were to build this bass now, it would cost ~$11,000.

I'm asking $7,500 $7,000. Week-end sale: $5,000

Local pick-up preferred.
