Details

This is a very rare "Custom Gretsch Limited Edition" G5123B Electromatic bass in pretty much mint condition. Rare because it's a medium scale (32") that was part of a special 2010 run by Guitar Center. Rarer still because custom hand-painted pin-stripping was added to match double bass player Jimbo Wallace's custom design and a door prize at the 2010 Chicago Rockin' Rods Music Festival. It comes with a certificate of authenticity singed by Jimbo, J Rev. Horton Heat and drummer Scott Churilla.(see pics)

I took this in a local trade last year and I just love having it out to gaze at. If I were in a flashy rockabilly band or variation, this would make quite a statement, but it's not suited for any current project and not getting played. I've got my eye on something that I need to put together cash for so I'm offering it here, possibly for a limited time if the other sells.

Korean-made but seems every bit as good as the higher-priced Gretsch Broadcaster I sold a while back. Has the better TV Jones pups, well-built with that woody, hollow-body sound that does best with flats. Comes with Gretsch OHSC, also in excellent condition. The only mod is that the word "Electromatic" in the headstock was blacked out, probably by the artist who did the pin stripping. It might come off but I haven't tried.

Dropping the price to $840 plus shipping, CONUS only, before I put it on a friend's REVERB site. Sorry, no trades, unless you have a Warwick Thumb BO, in which case I would add cash. PM me with any questions. I have specs I can send out.

I put pics on the Gretsch forum a few months back and reaction pinned the dial on the cool factor. Here's my favorite comment and the link.

That's not just cool, it's Fonzy cool. You know, cuffed jeans and a white tee shirt with a pack of Marlboro' s rolled up in it's sleeve. That bass is slipping class and chasing skirts or working on a'32 Ford chop top. Correctamundo. That hep cat is already fronting two rockabilly bands with a sneer that would make Billy Idol proud. Chicks dig it and guys want it in their band. Look out because that sucker just gave your steady girl a hickey. Yeah. Cool.

Hey blindrabbit. You've got a quick eye for being blind;)
Sorry, no trades. I'm looking for the cash or it wouldn't be for sale. Thanks for the interest, though. I'm updating the OP

That's kind of what I figured, but I thought since it would be inevitable that others would ask, I might as well get it out of the way up front. :)

Now, maybe I can find a bank to rob today... ;)

Just noticed for the first time that the inside label has handwritten "Custom 1-10,' so there may be a few more out there, or it might just be a date. I"m trying to track down more info on the artist and will update here as I learn more.

I've got a gig this weekend with a couple of rockabilly bands, I'll see if I can pump it up to them! :)

The only reason it is still available is because I have no cash... ;)
