I have two other amps that just work a little better FOR ME. Love the reeves, I wud like to not sell it. I have too much gear and some has to go including this amp and a few guitars. My music room is only so big!
I have a Reiner studio 1200 and a shaw B150. I love them all including the reeves, but can't keep them all. Th other two I play more mostly due to size ability to dial up tones I like more quickly. If it doesn't sell, believe I won't be crying.
The reeves is based of the old hi watt design. You can tweak the tone controls to get towards SVT land, but IMHO this amp has its own sound that is really not SVT. To me it has a way more detailed mids-no mush. Not quite the sub lows in the same manor as the SVT. Don't know if that helped, but it's all I got.
It's pretty cool, I like it a lot. However for me I have another all tube that is a little smaller and just doesn't require as much knob turning. Not a big deal to most, but I get overwhelmed by too many options especially on a gig. I got nothing bad to say about this amp though!
Reeves is tubier, but Reiner has an immediacy that I think works smoothly with its tube sound abilities. Don't get me wrong, I want them all. But it's just easier to move smaller form factors and less worry about blowing a tube. In my music room at home though-all bets are off
