Here is for your consideration a very early Jerzy Drozd bass.
This is Basic Custom 5 from 1998 (I am not sure). Etimoe body and standard J bass style pickups, and a 4 bolt neck. She is in fair condition at 17 years old.
It is a vintage one, before JD had proprietary bridges and pickups. Originally it had 2 bartolini pickups, now has one EMG pickup on the bridge position but will ship with the bartolini one as well in the case. Preamp is an Aguilar 3 band.
Price is $1.500,00 USD plus shipping (fifteen hundred US Dollars).
The bass is in Spain, and will ship within Europe at buyers expense, will accept paypal.
If you are in the United States, I travel frequently to California and can hand carry and ship from there.

I took the bass to the Jerzy Drozd Bird Restoration Centre (I live in Barcelona) to have it looked at and maybe do some maintenance or upgrades only to find out that this particular bass "cannot be considered" a Jerzy Drozd (JD) due to all the modifications it has suffered (which are none that i know of as they did not always have proprietary hardware). They state that in order for it to be considered a JD again it has to undergo a thorough reconditioning process, as only instruments with all proprietary JD parts can be considered a JD. So they sent me a quote on what it would cost to bring it up to JD standards, this means making it an Alta Sociedad JD (High Society). This reconditioning includes a refinish job, new frets, new proprietary gold plated bridge, new proprietary pickups (new shape), gold plated back plate, wooden buttons and truss rod cover, set up among others
The bill comes up to €4.092,00, they state that the bass will go up in price in the following years and that this a good investment. There is another less expensive option, at about €2.500,00 that while it will not be a High Society JD it will get you a restored certificate. In my case it is a bit much. If YOU on the other hand wish to undertake the restoring process while the bass is in Barcelona, let me know and I will arrange it with them and transfer ownership while being restored.
