It is with a very heavy heart that I list my 4001 for sale. I am selling this not because I want to, but instead because I need to, primarily to cover other looming expenses. Anyway, let's get on with it.
This is an all original and completely intact 1980 4001 in the beautiful rare BurgundyGlo colour, in excellent condition. Treble cover is on, along with the truss rod cover and jack plate with serial number, and the hardshell case is original (and included). I've added a clear Zero-Mod thumbrest, which as the name suggests doesn't involve any modifications, it only uses the original pickguard screws.
The label is off on one knob (which gives it just the right amount of mojo), and it has a few superficial scratches in the finish, as well as some dings at the top of the headstock - I've tried to capture all of these in the pictures. Fretwear is what would be expected for a bass of this age.
There is the usual tail lift with the bridge, but not only is it stable in this state, it also takes and holds adjustments. At present it is wearing Roto 66s (40-100). It has the slim fast neck that is typical of the 4001, and set to a nice low action it growls like a beast. Weight is 9.8 lbs as per my home bathroom scale.
All in all, this bass doesn't need a thing done to it, it is ready to gig with or hang on a wall as art - although it should be gigged with, that's what I've been doing!
I pack very well, and I'm prompt with my shipping and communication.
Asking price is $1799 USD plus shipping. The reason shipping is separate because it will depend upon how you'd like it sent, where it is going (I'll ship virtually anywhere in the world), and also due to the fact that my preferred means of shipping - "regular mail" - has a cap on insurance value that may not fully cover this bass's value. Payment is to be via PayPal or EMT in Canada.
This bass is obviously MIA so there shouldn't be any duties or the like on it. While I cannot guarantee that, I will promise you that the package will be appropriately marked with the contents so there shouldn't be any confusion that would lead to problems.
Because this bass is being sold to generate funds to cover other costs, no trades please. Feel free to PM with any questions or to discuss shipping interests if you are interested.
