Looking to sell my 7/8" German double bass. Circa 1800's. Fantastic sounding, playing, and looking flat-back bass. This beauty was restored by Geza Burghardt in Vancouver, BC, and refitted with new fingerboard, bridge, tailpiece, etc. There are no open seams or other issues.
This bass has incredible and full pizz sound, of course its larger size helps with that. It projects very well with the bow too and is at home in a professional orchestra. Includes a custom fitted Mooradian Deluxe bass case.
The string length is currently 42" (had a larger nut fitted). Body length is about 45&1/2". Lower bout is about 27", upper bout 21", rib depth about 8&1/2"
Asking $16,000 CAD (works out really well if you've got USD), though it was appraised at $25,000 CAD.
Currently located in Courtenay (Vancouver Island), British Columbia, Canada.
