I'm posting ad as a feeler for a 2014 Dingwall Prima Artist. This is the cream of the crop of Dingwall's.
I just got this rare bass in a trade from a very cool talkbass member.
And by rare, I think there's less than 20 in existence? They're worth huge money.
Go take a look at Bass Central and you'll see one selling for $12,500, list price of 15K with slightly different wood specs. Bass Central -DINGWALL Basses
General Specs available here:
Dingwall Bass Specifications | Side by Side Comparison | Dingwall Guitars
Prima Artist | Dingwall Guitars
Specs coming from the Dingwall website:
Scale - B - 37", E - 36.25", A - 35.5", D - 34.75", and G - 34"
The Prima Artist pickups feature an FD-3 treble coil with a custom wound bass coil. The coils are noise-symetric/tone-asymetric, which means they maintain near-perfect noise rejection with increased low-end clarity. The pickups are installed into wooden shells cut from the actual top and contrast layer of the body that they will be installed in. They are truly one of a kind pickups made in the Dingwall shop in Canada.
Their tone can best be described as the best of a vintage J and P, but with the most clear and punchy lows possible. It's impossible to imagine the power and clarity of the lows of these pickups. They have to be heard to be believed.
The Prima Artist pickups feature 4-lead wiring which enables the internal coils to be wired in either series for strong mids and high output or parallel for scooped mids and normal output. The Prima Artist bass features individual series/parallel switches so that the player can access these tones at the flick of a switch.
4-position rotary pickup selector - The pickup combinations are bridge pickup soloed, both in parallel, both in series, neck pickup soloed. The preamp is the Glockenklang 3-Band Preamp. The three switches are bridge - series / parallel, mid selector, and neck - series / parallel. http://www.dingwallguitars.com/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2010/09/Z3-control-layout-Glock.pdf
Weights 8.48 lbs on my Rapala Fish Scale
Comes with nicest gig bag I've ever saw which is leather Levy's gig bag along with a took kit from Dingwall.
As for trades, I'm mainly look for 5 strings - Fretted or Fretless
Some brands of interest Fodera, F-Bass, Alleva Copollo, Wal, Carl Thompson, Kenneth Lawrence, etc.
Will consider a straight up swap, 1 bass plus cash, 2 for 1, or 2 for 1 plus cash.
Local deals are possible and I may be willing to drive a reasonable distance for the right deal. However, I have completed trades from overseas that were shipped.
I have a PO box in Niagara Falls, NY at Zip Code 14301
This ad my disappear at any time should I decide to change my mind and just keep it.
