Hello guys,

Up for grabs is my early Ampeg Scroll Bass Serial #669. This is one of only a handful (Bruce figures around ~60) in all original, unmolested condition. It has the original mystery pickup, pots, strap buttons, finish, wiring, bridge cover, scroll inserts, tailpiece, well worn pickguard, thumbrest, and everything else a collector would look for. The only missing pieces are the bridge cover thumbscrews, and the OHSC, but the case pictured does fit quite well and will be included in the sale. As you can see in the last picture, the action is extremely low, and this probably accounts for why there is so much player wear on this bass- it's extremely comfortable and sounds really fat and warm, especially with the tone rolled off as many owners play them. I was impressed with how well the bass cops an upright tone, but it has a very complex midrange tonality that I haven't been able to create with any other instrument. I am not talking about the 'quack' that many people describe as the harsh upper mids that this bass can produce with the tone open, but somewhere between 0 and 3 on the tone knob, there is a low-mid heft that cuts through the mix like nothing else. Fat and deep, while still having a very open and wide bottom end. Its really something!

I am not interested in lowball offers or trades unless they net me a minimum of $2500USD, as I am only selling this bass to fund another purchase I have committed to. These basses do come up a few times a year, but I've only seen one other AEB-1 with its original finish and all original parts come up for sale in the last 5 years, let alone one that PLAYS this good; and that's why I'm so reluctant to post this thread- I will not find another like it. Asking price is $3300USD for talkbassers, but I'll likely put it on eBay to attract some international attention. I'll accept PayPal, but I would prefer a wire transfer. Shipping at the buyers expense, I will gladly send this instrument anywhere. I've shipped instruments/amplifiers as far as Germany with zero issues. As always, if you have any questions just let me know.
