Details

I will try and keep this brief and let the pics tell the story...I JUST recently acquired this bass after adopting another '83 Squier SQ Pre (one of which is going off for a refinishing)...I LOVE all of them...the neck on this bass (and the SQ's for that matter) is perfect to me...just beautiful!! This one sounds fantastic and is ready to go to a loving home and get played lots!

Here is the deal, the JV is a higher quality instrument with period correct and most likely US parts...reverse vintage style tuners, threaded vintage style bridge...in comparison to the SQ.
In my deciding factors of which one to keep of three '83 Squier's, I went out and picked up a digital fish scale to weigh my basses to find the lightest one...I actually figured this one and my newest SQ would be the lightest but kind of surprisingly to me this one is closer the 9lbs and the one SQ was around 8lbs so my back likes it better lol
*Just to be completely transparent...the digital fish scale was showing readings of 8.99lbs up to 9.12lbs with the bulk of the "readings" being at 9.08 and 9.10*

Anyway, as to not tempt myself to keep this, I thought I better put it away in the case and get it posted to the informed TB'ers that know the value of these Squier JV Precisions and how great they are...looking for a bargain priced '62 reissue pre...take a long look at the pics to follow because these basses are really really good!!

Pretty firm on price due to shipping costs that will be incurred but willing to negotiate somewhat to Canadian buyers....$666 US Funds via PayPal shipped anywhere in the USA or Canada

Gator lightweight case/rectangle gig bag thingy in great shape is included along with a couple of unidentified sets of strings...one of which were flatwounds...the bass is wearing rounds currently...***NOW ALSO INCLUDED an additional Genuine Fender '63 Reissue Tortoise shell pickguard*** (see pics near the bottom of this thread)

Oh...here is the blurb I found online about determining the dates via the Serial Numbers:

"JV5xxxx............................May to June 1983"

Oh man...this neck...arrgghh...it is really freaking nice...there is a gouge on the back of the headstock area but not related to much and was there when I acquired it...some people are freaked out by this stuff but it really doesn't bug me personally, regardless, I have clearly captured it with my lame photography skills

Trade Options you ask?

Hmmm...an A-Designs REDDI would pique my interest...so would...hmmm...

Ampeg SVT-DI
Khan Tube DI
Ampeg PF-XXX head
Aguilar DB900 Tube DI
Aguilar SL 112 (or a pair of them plus cash from me!)
Mono tick
Pedaltrain Nano
Ampeg SCR-DI
Cioks ADAM or DC5 power supply

Most likely just wanna a good old fashioned straight up sale but might be swayed...pretty picky though...my gut tells me this one won't last terribly long here regardless!!

If I had the money I would have to have this bass. It is a direct match to my 1983 JV Jazz bass. These basses are of extreme quality and nearly if not equal to the quality of basses being built by Fender in the USA at the time. These were labeled Fender in late 82 and early 83 then the Squier label was developed and used. Love these basses. GLWTS!

Thanks for the kind words...I thought this would be a one day type listing at this price as they don't creep up on TB too often and some folks are asking ALOT of dough for these Squier JV guitars and basses on eBay!!! Come and get it folks!!!

**Just a thought, anyone looking for a used AVRI Pre or used American STD Pre should take a loooonnnnggggg look at this bass...she is 32 years old and the value will stay intact...let's find her a loving home**

The "I can't believe this one didn't move right away" Bump...folks...do NOT let the Squier name fool you here, do some reading on the Squier JV series...these basses and the SQ series are tremendous basses and I have owned piles of instruments and these are my favourites...I just don't need 3 of essentially the same ones!!!

**If you check my previous sale items...I price them low to move them fast and always pass along great deals to my TB brothers and sisters...this is ALOT of PBass for the $$**

These are great basses. I have a sunburst one and you won't find a more correct slab curve at the headstock unless you have a Fullerton Reissue and we know how much those sell for!

Thank you Dluxe!!!!!..I had a PM (or conversation) inquiry about the depth of the neck at the first couple of frets so I figure I will add those pics here...not 100% accurate but should give you an idea of depth...I hate to keep harping on about these necks but they are soooo comfy!!!!

Wow...a flurry of activity on this one last night but alas no deal to be had...If I were to do a trade it will most likely have to be a trade + cash on your end type arrangement unless you have a pair of Aguilar SL 112's...then I would add cash...here is another list of trade candidates:

A-Designs REDDI
Ampeg SVT-DI
Khan Tube DI
Ampeg PF-XXX head
Aguilar DB900 Tube DI
Aguilar SL 112
(or a pair of them plus cash from me!)
Mono tick
Pedaltrain Nano
Ampeg SCR-DI
Cioks ADAM or DC5 power supply
Squier Classic Vibe Tele/Strat
Epiphone Casino/ES-175/ES-295/EJ-200
Epiphone EB-0 or -3 special edition in white (short scale though)
Gibson SG Special Bass/Eb-0 style/SG style short scale basses including some old MIJ Eb-0/EB3/SG knockoffs

I am pretty darn picky when it comes down to it and items outside this might be a no go but it never hurts to try...that being said...an outright cash sale (PayPal) might be the best option for me!!

***Changed the pricing somewhat but I am now including an extra tortoise shell pickguard (A Genuine Fender '63 reissue tort guard)***

Here is a pic of the extra pick guard...I paid $5X US dollars for this one awhile back here on TalkBass but I am going to stick with the Spitfire tort guard on my other bass so I am including it in this sale...I will put it in the Gator case...I am packing this bass up this evening and it will be ready to ship out tomorrow!!!!
