Got this recently as I wanted to try a 5 with a 34" scale. Plays and sounds great and looks very cool. I took a chance on this bass as I didn't have any experience with this particular body shape. I need shoulder surgery that I keep putting off because I don't want to lose two months of gigs. Unfortunately the body shape is bothering my shoulder, so even though I like this bass a ton, I need to part with it.
Alder body, rosewood fingerboard, 34" scale, 1 ¾" at nut with 19mm spacing at the bridge. Single coil pickups in 60's position. Badass V bridge, which was a factory option. Also comes with a Plexiglas ramp that fits between the two pickups. Nice weight at 9.25 lbs.
The electronics are pretty cool and very musical. The top three controls are like a Jazz Bass - Vol/Vol/Passive Tone and the passive tone control is always available, even in active mode. The bottom three are Bass/Mid/Treble and are all boost only. They are very effective and it's really hard to get a bad sound. The mid is nice because it can add some heft to the tone without sounding honky. The passive tone control also is a push/pull and when you pull it up the preamp is bypassed. In passive mode it sounds like a really good jazz bass only with more range.
PayPal is preferred, but I can make other arrangements if necessary. I will only ship the bass to a US address.
As far as trades to, there are only a handful of basses that have a body shape I can deal with these days. For example, as much as I love them, I can't do full sized jazz bodies anymore – my '73 Jazz just sits in its case. I've finally learned my lesson and am sticking with body shapes I have firsthand knowledge of. Even though I can't do full-sized jazz bass bodies, downsized ones like Sadowsky or Lull are okay. Ironically, a full sized P-Bass shape is good too.
So for trades, any of the following would work, +/- $$$ as appropriate:
- Sadowsky 4 or 5 string
- Roscoe Century or LG 5
- MTD 535 or 534
- Higher end P-Bass (Lakland, Nash, Lull, MIA Fender, etc.)
- Good quality lined fretless 4 or 5 string
Any trades would need to be on the lighter side, around 9.25 lbs or under.
