I have a Fender Jazz bass I would like to trade. Here is what I know about it.
It was painted numerous times. The paint on front was removed for some reason. The back is blue. Under the blue is yellow and under the yellow is gray. I think the original color is burst or a yellow. It has replacement neck, not sure about the tuners, I didnt know a way to date them or identify them, 1 pickup is NOT original, from what I was told its not even Fender. (its rounded, not square) The pups need to be swapped in order to fit a pickguard. 1 route looked to be tampered with. Im assuming to fit the replacement p/u. The bridge is an old replacement as well. Schaller I think. The serial on the plate is 506841 and the serial on the pots are 032367 250k-A-1377331 ( I think the last # is 1 ) I bought this years ago and a flea market and never got around to restoring it. I had it looked at by a few people and they are the ones who helped me date it to 1973.
The entire bass weighs in at 9.5 and the body weighs 6.5 loaded. Its obvious Im not a Fender guy and know nothing about them. I would appreciate any. I have the slightest idea on the value of this so Im open to all trades. If anybody has any info on cash value I would like to know. Im saving for a Big Al or Modulus. Again, I apologize for my lack of proper Fender training and the quality of my pics. I have a
new set of Dunlops that I didnt put on.

Sorry. But you have what we call a " basket case ". Its just a bunch of parts that have no relationship to a single original instrument. You may or may not have a 73 body. One of the routes certainly doesn't look factory. Or that could be angle of the photo. The pots do not look original to this bass as the soldering and wiring are not period correct. Though again the photos are blurry so not sure. At best, you have modded 73 body in need of work, a 70's plate, and 3 1973 pots.

Your honesty about the bass should be applauded. Others may have tried to plead ignorance and just pass it on. You are honest. We appreciate that here.

Not sure what value to put on this.

I did write that the route was tampered with. Probably to adjust for the other p/u. As far as the wiring goes... I recently had it rewired. Some of the original wires were too small and held together with scotch tape so they were replaced. I plugged it in today for the first time and it surprisingly sounds good so im not ashamed to keep it. I only paid $150 for it so I dont feel Im loosing anything. Thanks for taking time to study my pics and I appreciate your input.
