This is a truly unique and very special instrument. This Imperial 5 was spec'd to get as close as possible to a 70's Jazz while retaining all the magic of Fodera's design and boutique craftsmanship. The instrument has an Ash body, 5A premium Redwood top and Maple neck and fingerboard. The fingerboard alone is a work of art with intensely deep figure and stunning Abalone block inlays and full binding. Blocks and binding are something Fodera is no longer offering as it's a labor intense and time consuming process

The result is exceptional. This bass feels and sounds like the best of the 70's Jazz bass set interpreted through the highly exacting hands of the Fodera crew. If you've ever played a really, really good sounding 70's Fender but haven't been able to capture the same magic in a more contemporary design, you'll appreciate this rare and exceptional instrument.

34" scale and 19mm spacing. It has the latest version of the Pope pre and Fodera/Duncan single coils. It weighs around ~10.5lbs.

Thanks man. Yes, this one is pretty exceptional. The finish is incredibly deep and 3D. Definitely art work kinds of stuff.

I don't always like single cutaways but when I do ? It's this one. This has to be one of the best looking basses in history.

I agree. This one is pretty stunning. It may not be for the coffee-table purist but it's pretty darn spectacular. The figuring and the finish 'pop' even more in person.

Price drop to clear some things out of the music room....

This is a lot of bass for the money. An incredibly versatile Fodera that you could use on almost any conceivable gig.

It sure is a lot of bass for the money. You make me think about it and I don't really even play 5-string basses! This just can't last here.

Thanks Tom. For whatever weird reason, a lot of the pricier basses are sitting. It's a tough economy right now for sure. This one is a steal at the price. We'll find this in Google history in a year or two and say, 'wow, that was a good price -- I should have grabbed it!' ;-)

I might also consider trades plus cash for the right basses. I would consider Smiths or other Fodera 5/6's.

Joel, I have to confess that I come here everyday and stare at this bass.

I already have a one-of-a-kind 70s 5-string Fodera that I love, otherwise I'm sure I'd have bought yours by now. In fact, I find myself STILL tumbling scenarios in my head to see if I can find a way to justify getting this... and like I said earlier, I rarely play 5s.

Hopefully this gets sold soon so I can go back to acting like a mentally healthy person again. :-)

It's interesting that you say that. I'm trying to scale back a lot lately. I'm selling off basses that are redundant where possible. Meaning, how many alder/rw JJ basses do I really need; Do I need more than one ash/maple P bass? Etc, etc.

I have a 70's style ash/maple Fodera that I've had forever and, for sentimental reasons, would literally be the last bass that I would ever sell. If I didn't have that already, there's now way I'd be selling this one. It's a gem!
