Details

Moonstone Eclipse Deluxe, built in 1980 by Moonstone Guitars (Steve Helgelson, California, USA), with the original hard-shell case. This top-notch bass is highly collectable as only 120 were made!

Neck-through construction with a 5-piece neck (birdseye maple/purpleheart/graphite stringers), claro walnut headstock top with the 'moon’ abalone inlay, ebony fingerboard with ‘stars’ abalone inlays, mahogany body with burl maple top and back. Gold hardware (Leo Quan Badass II bridge, Schaller tuners). Passive electronics with Bartolini double-coil pickups, 2 volume 2 tone controls, a pickup selector and a phase switch.

The bass is in excellent condition for its age, no dings or scratches. There’s some wear on neck pickup cover, on the upper part of electronics’ cavity cover, on bridge plate and saddles. Schaller tuners show some pitting. Original case has wear & tear (one latch is not working) but still does its job.

Price is $2490 OBO.

I ship from Spain by FedEx Express and pack safely.

It looks like a short-scale (30") bass with the pickups in the long-scale position. It is quite beautiful. GLWTS.

I played a 1982 Moonstone Eclipse as my only bass for over 15 years. These are very special instruments capable of a super creamy tone, especially in the high end. I came to really like worn-in GHS Brite Flats on mine. I'd leave those on for a loooong time.

I believe the scale was 33 1/2". If you notice where the bridge is placed you will get an idea of how they play for the fingerboard hand. They play somewhat like a longer scale instrument, but don't let that deter you in any way. Great tonal treasures lie within.

Good luck to all.
