Here is an early 1958 precision bass, 1/58 pencil date on the neck heel.
Since this is an early 58 it retains most of the features from from 57 as they hadn't transitioned over to the newer neck profile. This one has the raised pole pieces, and chunky v neck profile. Pickups still strong and read about 11k. Bass is very lightweight coming it at about 8lbs 1oz, great sounding and playing bass with a rock solid straight neck and low vintage frets. This one has been body refinished a million years ago and shows legit wear all over from years of playing. The neck finish is original and shows amazing checking on the fretboard. Not sure if the back of the neck is finish wear from playing, or has been sanded. but it's smooth feeling on the upper part of the neck. When I bought the bass it had some spray paint covering the pickguard, I removed it and found someone had tried sanding off the gold finish about half way. No idea why but looks cool. The decal is a repro I had custom made to the correct 1957-58 letter spacing. There is a small surface crack on the headstock that runs between the e and d tuner. I removed the tuners to inspect this, it only runs on the top layer of wood and would be an easy fix. I never bothered as it hasn't done anything since I've owned the bass.
What is original:
All hardware, tuners, knobs, pickups, jack, neck finish.
Non original:
Body refinish, headstock decal, wiring harness and pots (the pots and cap were toast, had to replace those.) No case, but will be packaged extremely well for shipping.
