Here's the story on this, for full-disclosure-sake: I bought it from a guy locally who said the truss rod was broken, so I got a good deal on it. I was going to iron off the fretboard and replace the truss rod. However, as far as I can tell, the truss rod actually seemed fine, if only a bit stiff.
I lubed it with dry graphite, and it seems to work fine now. Smooth operation, plenty of room for relief in both directions. I have another one just like it (this one is #225, mine is #227, so they're like cousins or something) and they both play like butter. I'm not sure why he thought the truss rod was broken, but he did say "it's playable" when I bought it so I can only assume he just took someone's word on it. I dunno. I'm including pics of the action to verify that it's nice and playable. There's room for more relief on it beyond this too. Both ways, as it has a dual-action truss rod. Tried to get pics of the action in there, but kind of hard to gauge by those.
I installed a tedur JAN III as the JAN II on it was broken. There are a few small dents here and there on the back of the body and neck (tried to get them in the pics).
Comes as seen, no case or kit. Looking to get $950 shipped CONUS, via Paypal. I can ship disassembled to possibly make it cheaper. The price is substantially below what these are going for (Normally around $1100-1300) because I got it pretty cheap, and to compensate for the possibility that you may end up with a solid bass that plays great but could technically be "broken" (though I very much doubt it). Like I said, I have another of the same kind, and they both play the same, and both have good action. Any questions, just ask.
Possible trades: P Bass of some kind. Preferably non-Fender and preferably an MTD CRB 5-string (plus cash), but may entertain others. Any Guild or Heritage 6-string electrics. Something else you think might interest me? Worst I could say is "no thanks".
