I am putting my 1968 Ampeg AUB-1 fretless "scroll" bass up for sale S/N 1159. I bought this bass from the original owner. He bought it new in 1968, played it professionally in wedding/top 40 bands for two years, then put it under the bed in 1970 when he bought a fretless Fender. I will include with the sale a photo that he gave me of him playing the bass at a gig.
The bass is in excellent condition- what you would expect for a bass that was played for only two years by a careful professional. Some small dings, minor buckle wear, and a couple spots of "strap burn" from the original vinyl gig bag (which is included, but is not in great shape). The bass has new Daddario flatwound strings from Bruce Johnson and is set up well (instrument repair is my occupation). The electronics, tuners, ect. all work as they should. No parts are missing or damaged. A very nice example of a rare bass.
$3500 or offer, shipping in the lower 48 included. I can email more photos (close ups, ect.) on request. Thanks, Andy.
