This is a painful one to let go. All of Rob's instruments are special but this one has stood out against all others I've played or heard. Most everyone that's played it has wanted to know if I ever sell it - if only I kept a list ;)

MB-2 walnut 4
Swamp ash body
Curly claro walnut top
Birdseye maple neck
Macassar ebony fingerboard, unlined
Tortoise binding
Matching headstock

I'm the original owner since 2006, and it's in excellent condition. There are a couple indentations in the body but otherwise it's in perfect shape. Weight is somewhere under 7 lbs - it's really incredible how light these basses are for how big a sound they have.

This model today would be upwards of $3600. I am asking $2250 USD shipped in USA/Canada.

All original tools, documents, and 2 spare sets of strings are included. I don't have a great case to ship it but it will be well packed in a generic gigbag with plenty of packing material in a good box. Alternatively I can offer a Mono Vertigo case at extra cost.

I'm not sure. You'd probably want to check with Rob Allen for that info.
Here's what Rob said when I asked him about five-stringers: "the fingerboard radius on the 5 string basses is generally 16", but has a slight compound quality, so at the nut it is closer to 12~14" and graduates to 16" by the time it reaches the end of the f.b. This makes the neck feel more comfortable (in my opinion) in the lower positions. Other radius' are possible though, as this end work is done by hand with special tooling. It's about 3 months delivery time right now from the time of order."

Thinking it over, I would definitely be interested in your bass if it were a five-stringer, but it would be difficult for me to justify adding another four-string acoustic BG. Thanks anyway and best of luck on the sale!

Rob Allen basses are special.
Are you going to replace it with another axe?
Jim Stinnett & Rob Gourlay put out a bass CD and played duo
on a RA fretless 4 and a RA fretted 5. Beautiful combination.
