Details

I purchased this used "non-export" Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass direct from Japan. My only modification was to add the Hipshot drop-D tuner. It has the P/J pickup configuration and it plays and sounds great. I put its condition at VG++; it does have some scratches and minor dings (more on that below), otherwise I would rate it as in Excellent condition. Fender Support's serial number chart for Made in Japan shows the manufacture date for "U+6" serial numbers as 2010-2011.

Price is $450 shipped to Lower 48 only. PayPal preferred. No trades.

CONDITION
  • Truss rod is in good working order. Neck is straight.
  • Electronics are fully functional and dead quiet, no static or scratchiness.
  • The frets are clean and have at least 80% remaining.

COSMETICS
  • The body has scratches and dings that I have attempted to show in the pictures. The pics with the dark background really highlight the scratches. The pics with the light background show them as not very noticeable, which is how the bass appears in person, to me.
  • The back of the neck has a couple of light scratches that I'm sure can be smoothed out. I haven't bothered as I don't really notice them while playing. The worst neck scratch is opposite the nut on the rear, which is shown in the pics.

In answer to a couple of questions:
  • I don't have a scale at home but the retailer in Japan listed it at 8.5 lbs.
  • The pictures with the dark background were from the retailer in Japan. The dark background really accentuates the scratches, which is a good thing when evaluating a purchase. When I received the bass I was surprised at how much nicer it looked, the scratches looking much less noticeable in person, very much like the light background photos. It's a very pretty bass.

Is that the original pickguard? If not, do you still have it?

It's the pickguard that was on the bass when I received it from Japan. The only change I made was adding the Hipshot drop-D tuner. The original tuner is included.
