The bass is in good condition, but most importantly it plays and sounds great. My friend and bassmaker Brian Ristola, who made me a beautiful 5 string several years ago, told me that it was the nicest playing and sounding 6 he’d played at the time. I was going to sell it to pay for the 5 he made me, but he told me I should never sell it. Well, that was before I bought my Pedulla Pentabuzz 5 in January 2016! I only need to sell this and another piece of studio gear to have the Pedulla paid off, and that would be a good thing.
I have the original hard case, which it will ship in. I will also throw in a new set of Peavey Cirrus strings. That's are what’s on it now. I would guess that they are a medium gauge set. They sound great and last a long time. I guess they are about $30 when you can find them. String scale length is 35".
Just before I decided to sell it, I had it gone over by my good friend and tech Jim Mouradian who lives in the Boston area. Jim is a great player himself. He plays bass with the Ronnie Earl blues band. When I got it back I noticed he had set the action to "moderately low". [wry grin] He’s a blues guy, after all… That said, it could be setup really low if you have a light touch.
You will likely notice from the pictures that there is no finish on the back of the neck. that’s historical… I don’t have a finish on the back of any of my instruments, except for my Pedulla Pentabuzz. I guess that’s me coming from playing upright in the orchestra in the 60’s. it just feels comfortable to me. Other than the dings on the top of the headstock there are no significant problems, and I don't consider that a "problem". The fact is that bass is used, and it has been played.
The bass weighs 10 pounds, not too bad for a 6. A 3/4-inch string spacing at the bridge totals up to a three and 5/16-inch width, tapering to two inches at the nut, making it quite comfortable to play.
I am looking to get $900 and YOU PAY shipping. If you live in New England we could probably meet up somewhere. I play all over New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts and sometime Vermont. If not, I have shipped instruments before and not had any issues. It will be packed well and shipped in its original hardshell case.
