I am the 2nd owner of this Sadowsky NYC 5 string bass and have Really Enjoyed playing her. However, I am building a new home and need to sell some of my Lesser Played Treasures to help fund some of the Upgrades.

The original owner placed a special order for this bass and had Roger build this Modern style 5 string bass in the highest grade exhibition quilted maple top and gold hardware. It has soapbar pickups (EMG) which was what Roger was using during that time period. It has the famous Sadowsky preamp with a bypass switch. It does NOT have VTC but it could be installed by any future owner. I considered adding it myself, but I had another Sadowsky with the VTC, and this one sounded better and was easier to dial in. The bass was built in April 1996 and the serial number is 2334. It weighs 8.5 pounds on my bathroom scale (subtractive method) and balances perfectly.

It sounds phenominal and looks STUNNING. It has a warm thick and punchy sound and is extremely even on all strings at all 21 frets. It is a very articulate sounding bass with a smooth and extended high end. I would describe it as having some shared character to a J pickup but with more authority and a bit fatter sound. Roger's office said that it is a single coil soapbar. It is a FANTASTIC sounding and playing bass!

It is in perfect playing condition with NO issues. The frets do NOT show any signs of wear and play perfectly with NO fret buzz or rattle. The bass will Ship in the DeLuxe Sadowsky Modern Aligator case, include the Sadowsky well-padded gig bag that came with the bass. She currently has Sadowsky Black Label SS strings.

After the amount of years this bass has been played, there are a couple of dings that I will point out and attempted to show in photos. At the very bottom of the bass there is a chip that does expose the wood. The chip is about 1/8" wide. It has not progressed in size and could probably be coated with a clear laquer, etc..if you really wanted to cover the spot. There are also a couple of small scratches at the very top of the headstock. On the back of the neck, there is an area of discoloration. This is NOT at all felt to the touch of your hand and is truly cosmetic.

This identical Sadowsky bass made and bought brand new today, would cost $5500-6000. (master grade top, gold hardware, aligator case, etc.) I am asking $3250 / OBO delivered to your door CONUS. Add $100 for Mexico / Canada. If you are Int'l with a USA address we can work something out, but I will not ship this outside of the NAFTA area. Please keep all offers and comments in PM, and mention which bass you are interested in as I have several listed. I'm not looking for any trades on this one.

Also a bit rare it's a modern with 21 frets.
