All-original 1973 natural Fender Jazz Bass. This is beautiful, sweet to play, with no issues.
I bought it two years ago from the original owner and it's in excellent condition. Since then, I was able to pick up a '68' Fender JB like the one I (never should have) sold back in the day so this one is redundant and should go to a good home.
This is a great playing bass that was played yet cared for. The photos will tell the story. I'm calling it a 1973 with confidence. This is a transition year bass when Fender went to the mother-of-pearl inlays. All three pots date to 1973, it has the four-bolt neck, and the 1973 pickguard style, with the thumb rest below the pickups. There is no date marking on the neck (not uncommon typical for those years.) Both neck and pocket have same Fender inspection stamp, except color, and the neck is stamped Armenta, for Xavier Armenta, who was a final sander at Fender until the early 1970s.
Who´s this 70´s dude?
Everything is original - neck, grey bobbin pickups, two covers, including OHSC. The original bridge pickup was recently rewound by Lindy Fralin last year to original specs (have paperwork). Both pups are powerful and sound incredible. Case is in very good condition. Everything works well. Only issue is part of the Fender badge is missing.
The finish is exceptional, with barely any marks. There is moderate wear on the lower frets but still plenty of life and there are small patches of discoloration along the 4th and 5th frets but the finish is sound, frets secure. The neck is straight, truss rod turns easily both directions and it is set up with nice low action. Weight is 10 lbs.
