For your consideration: a Modulus Quantum 5 Sweetspot circa 1995. This is by far the smoothest playing bass I've ever laid hands on. Fast and comfortable neck with effortless action. Killer sound with a powerful B string. A stunning and tasteful silverburst finish. Light weight at 8 lbs on the bathroom scale. Truly something special.

Scale length is 35". String spacing is on the compact side, maybe 17mm? No truss rod, hasn't needed it. Neck is straight as an arrow and hard as a rock. Previous owner reported switching string gauges and tunings, even stringing it E-C, with no movement. Handles cold weather like a champ. Capable of VERY low action with no buzz. Currently strung with Chrome flats.

Electronics are stock. EMG pickup and three band preamp with sweepable mids. At one point it was wired for 18v until one of the battery leads became detached; it runs fine at 9v but it's a quick solder job away from running at 18v again. Hardware is stock too except for Dunlop locking strap pins (strap pieces not included). Tuners and bridge are excellent, as are the frets.

This bass is in great condition for 21+ years of service, but in the interest of full disclosure, I will call out the physical flaws. There are a few dings and swirls that I tried to capture in the pictures. Notably, there is a small dent at the tip of the headstock and a few scratches on the neck and body. The control cavity lid is held securely with two screws reinforced with the toothpick method of fixing stripped screw holes; the posts for the other two screws broke off within the cavity. The battery is loose in the cavity so I tape it to the inside of the lid. Again, these are minor details that I feel compelled to share. Standing five feet away, the bass is going to look close to mint.

I picked this up here on TB a few years ago and it has served me well. The only reason I'm looking to sell it is that I'm not using it with my current gig and I try not to hang onto gear that I don't use. I'm asking $1250 via Paypal. Includes shipping to the lower 48 in a beater hardshell case. No trades, please. Thanks for stopping by!

Holy crap! I've never seen a Q5 weigh in at only 8lbs even. That's unreal! Also, very cool finish. I've never seen another Q5 like it.

I used to have a Q5 with dual pickups at 8 lbs even. I think it's more common than most are aware.

She's a beauty! GLWTS.

Bought this sweet spot from Jeff on a local deal. Super great bass that was as listed. Honest and a great deal. Very happy with the transaction and urge anyone to deal with him. Opened the case and found Bartolini pickups and preamp. Called immediately and was told to keep them. Nice guy. Said if I end up not using them I would pay it forward and donate them.

Thanks man, this bass will be well loved.
